- This workshop is comprised of two sessions, please see website for details.
Work with a sense of discovery and wonder while sculpting the human form in clay. The emphasis of our class will be to explore the expressive potential of gesture, pose, and surface, while learning useful sculptural skills such as armature development, basic anatomy, and ceramic sculpture construction techniques.
Students will work from both live models and their imaginations. Projects include a life-sized portrait bust or small figure, studies, gestures, and figure fragments. Special focus is given to development of narrative and symbol-rich sculptural surfaces. Students may experiment with terra sigillata, slips, oxides, and underglazes and may also have the option to participate in raku and saggar firings.
There are two sessions. Each session has a particular focus and students may take each individually, or both in sequence. All skill levels are welcome.
This workshop is hosted by Cabrillo College.
