Katherine Payne: Monoprinting with Clay

Learn how to monoprint on clay! Monoprinting transfer techniques include stenciling, layering, and stamping. Students will learn the role of plaster molds and experiment with different applications for monoprinting including 2D tiles and 3D forms with an emphasis on design and surface. This class will be full of experimentation and new ways to incorporate pattern and color into your work. Students will come away from this workshop with a set of monoprint tiles and a monoprint form of their choosing.

Bio:
Katherine Payne works and resides in Ukiah, CA and is a Windgate Fellow (2016/17). She is a founding member of the Deep Valley Art Collective and holds her BFA in Ceramics from the California College of the Arts. In her work, Katherine is influenced by the Italian Renaissance using ceramics to explore her relationship with nature and celebrating places of retreat.
