Katy Drijber: Pattern & SurfaceFrom 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Sonoma Ceramics’ Chili Bowl Resident Artist teaches students how to create repeating patterns on leather hard pottery. Katy will share her hand-carved stamps for students to use in class. Students will also make their own custom bisque stamps for thrown pots, slabs or tiles. The second half of the class will delve into the mishima technique – wax inlay of underglazes as a way to add color patterns to your pieces.
Students should bring soft leather hard pots or tiles to stamp and mishima, tools to form pottery, sketchbook, brushes for wax and underglaze, and a pencil.
