Back at The Potters’ Studio by popular demand! Michael Berkley has been teaching and displaying his work for over 40 years and is known for being a natural teacher with the ability to reach people at all levels of skill. Have you got centering down but you’d like to finesse your skills? Have you thought about throwing larger but you need some tips? In this one-day workshop, discover techniques that nobody talks about that will allow you to take giant leaps forward towards your goal of throwing pots. Learn “big clay techniques” that will allow you to center large pieces of clay. Come with your throwing questions and problems. Michael will work on a 1:1 basis with workshop participants. Participants should be able to comfortably center clay.
Michael served as Resident Artist and instructor at the University of Oregon and was an instructor at Walnut Creek Civic Arts for 18 years teaching raku-firing, pit-firing, beginning, intermediate and advanced ceramics. He also taught classes at The Potters’ Studio in years past. Michael has a strong interest in Archeology and Ancient Sumer which started early in his career while attending UW and continues to influence his work today. He has won numerous awards for his ceramic art and design.
Cost: $150 (PS members &PS students $125) Enrollment limited to 12.
