He has taught glaze tech classes for 30 years at San Diego State University, and glaze workshops at Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Red Deer College, Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts, and Idyllwild Arts. Richard’s HyperGlaze software is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to manipulate glaze recipes. The workshop will focus on topics such as:

  • using the software to keep recipes organized and easy to find
  • raising and lowering glaze firing temperatures
  • adjusting glaze fit
  • doing material substitutions
  • learning what a glaze analysis (UMF) can tell you
  • using the software to better understand glazes and how they work

A free copy of HyperGlaze (for Windows and Macintosh) will be provided to every workshop participant.Students should bring their glaze questions and problems and we’ll try to address them.
