I started blowing glass in 1969 in Santa Barbara. I went to Pilchuck in 1972 and had my own studio until 2000. I am still making glass via "have blowpipe, will travel".

Narrative

The current focus of my work is to combine the immediate and fluid aspects of glass with the shine and structure of precious metals. The glass base is created first then the tops are made to complement the piece and achieve fusion of design.
The vessels, perfume bottles, and teapots are mouth-blown and hot formed glass.
When cool the glass is further worked by drilling or sandblasting. Metal elements are cast and fabricated sterling silver, 14, 18, and 22 karat gold with insets of gemstones and glass. The jeweled vessels disassemble into wearable pendants and necklaces contained within the stopper. The stacked pieces are meant to hang from chains or pearl necklaces found inside the jar. All glass and metal parts are created by myself.
