Narrative

My functional artworks are directly influenced by all the women artisans in my family. Using yarn, fabric and threads they created out of necessity as well as out of a desire for artistic expression. I worked alongside them and learned to translate my own ideas into finished pieces.
Today I use colored strings of glass, glass powders and sheets of glass as my yarns, thread and fabric. With these elements I explore new ways to communicate and share what I learned from these women.
